From The Ground Up started in September of 2003. Started by Alex and Alan, the band formed under the mission to play hardcore music with passion and energy. At this time Zack Levigne came into the picture on drums. A friendly character, Zack was a great drummer, and would always ask you what you'd had for breakfast that day. Chris Valyou joined on bass and soon FTGU was practicing and playing shows. In November of 2003 From The Ground Up recorded their first demo with Joe Egan and Aaron Flynn working the controls. This demo included the songs, "Redemption", "What We Once Were", "Runaway" (known at the time as "Time To Live"), as well as a humorous phone message left on Alan's answering machine by a drunken Chris Valyou.
From The Ground Up continued to play shows locally, and eventually picked up Adam Meuiller (of the Static Age) on bass. Adam provided the enthusiasm and drive that helped the band progress. In May of 2004, FTGU recorded 6 songs with good pal Daryl Rabidoux. In September they picked up Paul Rushford on guitar, which helped solidify the sound.
Today they look towards playing out and releasing their recordings from Mr. Rabidoux. Keep an eye out for FTGU in your area.
